Meet 't Struyskommitee

The origins of ’t Preuvenemint date back to 1981. The first open-air meal took place on the Vrijthof: an old-fashioned Limburg marksmen’s dinner for over 600 members of the Maestrichtsche DienstDoende Stadsschutterij 1815. People ate and drank for a good cause: new uniforms for the City Guard.

Afterward, the idea for a follow-up was born at In den Ouden Vogelstruys. The first plans for what would later become ’t Preuvenemint—the Maastricht interpretation of a tasting event—were sketched out on a few Maastricht beer mats.

A year later, in 1982, the first official edition of ’t Preuvenemint became a reality. Since then, ’t Struyskommitee and many volunteers have organized the event, which has grown into the largest gastronomic event in the Benelux.
